I have so much dead stuff I've cut off of plants in the yard, I'm going to have to arrange a bulk pickup. The huge Mexican Daisy Bush yielded enough for a pickup all on it's own. Sure, I could let it all sit out in the yard, and put it out bit by bit, but why do that when I can just call them and get it all picked up at one time?
One really stupid thing about our city is how they pick up yard trash. Unless it's in paper bags or containers, you have to arrange a bulk pickup. You can only have two a year (year runs from Oct. thru Sept.), and it can't be a total of over 10 cubic yds. Oh, and that isn't
ONLY yard waste. That 10 cu. yds. a year applies to ALL bulk pickups...more than that, you have to pay. So if you put out a sofa, that's 3 cu. yds. right there. Of course, you can have as much stuff in containers and bags as you want, but that is SUCH a PITA to do when you have tons of stuff.
This all came from ONE plant, the Mexican Daisy Tree, which is huge and had all the limbs die back. Those limbs are 10-15 feet long. Click pictures for a larger view.
This is what it looked like before I took all the dead limbs off. It's really beautiful when it's in bloom. I'll have to find a picture and post it.
